Facilities at Holywell Manor

The Common Room The Common Room is the social focus for graduate members. You will find copies of daily newspapers (domestic and international) together with a selection of magazines. This service is managed by the MCR Committee. The Common Room is also the home to many of our special events, from Casino Nights to hosting live bands to Bops.

The Megaron The MCR Committee is responsible for the organisation of the Holywell Manor Bar which is called the Megaron. The bar is for the exclusive use of Balliol graduates and their guests. It usually stocks a variety of soft drinks, snacks (crisps and chocolates) in addition to alcoholic drinks. Stock is sold at near cost price and the profits are used to fund improvements to the bar and its facilities.

Sports Facilities The Balliol Sportsfield is located behind the Martin Building. Graduate members have access to tennis and squash courts, a croquet lawn as well as the football and cricket pitches. There is a multi-gym available in Balliol College. See the MCR Sports page for more information.

Upcoming Facilities - Multigym / Games Room / Lounge / Music Practice Room This year, we are pleased to announce that the cellar area of the Manor beneath Centre Wing (formerly the Dining Room) will be refurbished for MCR use. This exciting new space will contain a new Multigym, a games room with pool table, a Lounge area, and a sound-proofed music practice room. These refurbishments will be ongoing throughout the year, with completion predicted by the end of Hilary 2008.

Computing and Laundry Facilities
Holywell is fortunate to have extensive computing facilities on site. There are ten up-to-date computers along with a network printer and scanner available for our use. Wireless internet access is available in the MCR, Painted Room, TV Room and anywhere else the signal may reach. You'll need to download a VPN client to make it work. Check out OUCS for details.

There are two washing machines and two tumble dryers available in the basement of Centre Wing. A seperate facility exists in the Dellal Building. A sign up sheet located near the Lodge is used to book a slot. The cost of laundry is covered by our termly fees, so you do not need cash in order to utilise this facility.
