Room Regulations
Insurance
The College does not accept responsibility for property that is lost or stolen. You should make arrangements to insure all personal possessions. There are numerous specialist insurance schemes for students.
Microwaves
Microwave ovens are not permitted in rooms unless there are medical or dietary reasons. These must be supported by a medical certificate from your doctor which should be sent to the Accommodation manager in advance of arrival. Toasters are also not permitted.
Fridges
Small fridges of 4 cubic feet are allowed, and if you intend to bring your own fridge please notify the Praefectus' Secretary in advance. In accordance with the College's Health & Safety regulations all fridges must pass the Portable Appliance Test (PAT) inspection. The VP will be happy to arrange this with the College electrician.
Personal Furniture
It is not permitted to use candles, electric blankets, fairy lights and joss sticks in rooms. They constitute a fire risk and failure to adhere to this rule is a disciplinary matter.
You are reminded that furniture and carpets must not be removed from the room you have been allocated. To preserve paintwork in your room please do not attach pictures, notices, etc. by sellotape or Blue-Tac. A charge will be made to battels accounts for any damage to rooms or furniture. Rooms in the James Fairfax Yard (JFY) have picture rails, and you are requested not to pin or stick items directly onto the walls anywhere in the building.
